Markus Schulz "Los Angeles ’12" to be Released on 20 February

Some musical projects aim high, but don’t touch the stars. Others pitch low, and accomplish their goal, and those pieces of work will never be remembered in years to come. The temptation not to try something grand, something big, must be hard to resist for many people in the business. Call it knowing your limits. Call it lack of ambition or the vision to pull it off. The fact is, those who don’t aim high can never be accused of falling short.

It takes courage to do it, and Markus Shulz is a bold and ambitious man. Thankfully, he’s also got the skills needed to put together a genuinely amazing piece of work, and his coming project “Los Angeles ‘12” is so grand in scope it would have terrified a man of lesser ability. When he announced, last year, that he wanted to tackle a project which encompassed the full range of the Los Angeles electronic music scene, it would have been easy for people to scoff, and even easier for him to have narrowed his focus. Yet he didn’t.

Markus’ City Series compilations are, of course, always huge in scope, but this was a daunting task even for him, but he went at it with the enthusiasm and skill for which he is famous, and the result – a staggering 27 track double disc album – might well be the best work he’s done yet.

To mark the occasion, he’s also throwing two massive parties in the city the weekend after the launch, the first time he’s ever done back-to-back gigs in LA.

This remarkable achievement, this epic album, this awesome tribute to the City of Angels, will be available from February 20.
