You may not know her by name just yet, but you’ve definitely seen her around. This music enthusiast has been scoping out the dance scene ever since the ripe age of fourteen. It was her first party, NASA at legendary VINYL, which turned this New Jersey native into a sophisticated city girl with a taste for house music. “It was the first environment where I said, this is where I belong”. Through her club scene journey she has evolved from raves to lounges to mega clubs….from trance to progressive to straight up funky…and she now attributes her greatest musical influences to DJ Heather, Charles Feelgood and Bob Sinclair. It was these deejays particularly that really made an impact and enhanced her drive to give the decks a shot. After working the door for various clubs, making invaluable connections, promoting parties and dancing the night away for years Elena, DJ Miss Lamour, made the decision to take her love of house music to the next level. She realized that she was ready to contribute to the music scene as well. Although she could have easily been taught by one of her musician friends, Elena took it upon herself and quickly enrolled in New York’s Scratch Academy. “I didn’t want anyone to think I was hitching a ride on someone else’s coat tails! I know how hard the road can be and I respect every deejay’s persistence. I wanted to do the same and earn my stripes”. It was here at the Scratch Academy that her dream became a reality. After two semesters and months of practicing it was time to take it on the road! And this brings us to today. After 3 years on the circuit she has perfected her blend of Chicago Jack, Old School House Classics and Funky Disco Cuts. This newcomer is now playing at some of Manhattan’s hot spots and has her eyes set on the future. If you hear her play, get ready to go home with some tired feet.
